Wellness Haven WV’s open house to feature info about massage therapy, Reiki, mantras and more during open house

BUCKHANNON – Wellness Haven WV is inviting the community to learn more about massage therapy and Reiki during an open house this Saturday, July 10.

Chrissy Sandy, owner of Wellness Haven WV, has started accepting appointments at her newly remodeled location at 1 Market Square Plaza, where she offers massage therapy and Reiki sessions. Sandy is a licensed massage therapist and Reiki master.

“Reiki is a Japanese energy technique, and it deals with the auras, chakras and negative energy within the body,” Sandy said. “I do it laying on the massage table. It’s an hour or a half hour depending on what the client wants. I check the chakras to see if they’re spinning properly and if they’re not, I’ll clean the negative energy out, and then I can clear the aura of the negative energy – there’s so much to it, but that’s brushing the surface.”

Sandy started offering services on Main Street at Wild Vinyasa Yoga Studio above Fish Hawk Acres about a year ago in mid-June, but it has been her plan from the beginning to open her own space.

“I was there for a year, built up some clientele and I thought it was time to get my own place to have other things I would like to do in the future that I couldn’t do there,” Sandy said. “I owned a cleaning business several years ago, so I like working for myself – it’s a lot easier than working for someone else.”

The open house is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 10 and will feature Wellness Haven and guests Sacred Yana, Mindful Journeys with Shauna Jones, Yoga with Susan Harsh and Lisa Gum with introductions to mantras.

“Both massage and Reiki is good for relaxation and stress relief, but a lot of people have pain, and they don’t know where it comes and they’re on prescription meds and a lot of the times the pain can be relieved without medicine,” Sandy said. “A lot of people have a specific ailment or a part of their body that constantly hurts and they want to see if they can get that relief.”

“The good thing is, doctors are actually recommending massage therapy, so that’s opening up a whole new way for pain management,” Sandy added.
