Pennsylvania’s acting physician general says health care providers are in a unique situation when it comes to requiring employees to get vaccinated.
Dr. Denise Johnson says it’s ultimately up to each health care system.
“I believe that anyone, any organization that is caring for vulnerable people have an interest to make sure that their staff are vaccinated,” she said.
Johnson made the comment Tuesday while visiting UPMC in Pittsburgh.
The health system, which has facilities in the Susquehanna Valley, is not requiring its employees to get vaccinated.
Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is requiring vaccinations unless an employee receives an exception.
